During the 52nd match of IPL 2025, held at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, a moment of confusion arose involving Dewald Brevis and Lungi Ngidi. Brevis was given out LBW to a full-toss that clearly appeared to be down the leg side, yet umpire Nitin Menon upheld the decision.
Brevis sought advice from Ravindra Jadeja and decided to challenge the call. However, a technical glitch prevented the review timer from displaying on the screen. Before Brevis could initiate the DRS, the umpire declared that the 15-second window had elapsed, denying the review.
Both Brevis and Jadeja were visibly shocked. Subsequent ball-tracking technology indicated that the delivery would have missed the stumps by a significant margin. Nevertheless, Brevis returned to the pavilion without scoring, leaving many fans dissatisfied with the umpire's ruling.
Shepherd's Heroics Propel RCB to Victory
Romario Shepherd's explosive batting proved pivotal in the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings. His powerful hitting during the final overs made a crucial difference for RCB, earning him accolades from captain David after the game.
Despite a challenging finish with the bat, RCB's bowlers clinched the victory in the closing overs. Suyash initiated the comeback in the 18th over, while Yash Dayal, demonstrating remarkable composure for the second consecutive year, dismissed MS Dhoni and managed a no-ball situation effectively with precise yorkers and low full tosses.
CSK had initially established a strong position, with Mhatre impressively scoring over 70 runs and forming a 115-run partnership with Jadeja after a solid start. Ngidi made a significant impact by taking out both Mhatre and Brevis in the same over. Ultimately, RCB secured a vital win, earning two important points in their quest for a top-two finish.
